About Me

I am a multimedia journalist in New York City who covers a range of inequality stories with the intersection of race, politics, culture, and public affairs. I graduated from Howard University in May of 2023 with a bachelor's in journalism and African-American Studies, and then from the Columbia Journalism School with my master's in 2024. Some of my professional experience includes as first, an editorial intern and currently a freelance reporter with the New York Amsterdam News, the oldest Black newspaper in New York, While at Howard, I served as a News & Politics Writer for The Hilltop newspaper. My passion for journalism stems from studying history and public speaking on issues relating to race, politics, and African American history.

While growin up in Riverdale, The Bronx in New York, I became heavily involved in cultural experiences in Harlem, where my family is from. I interned with the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce and Harlem Week throughout my teen years and have done projects with them over the years. In 2021, I was one of the three recipients of the inaugural Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Legacy Scholarship and was also selected to participate in the HBCU-Africa Student Corps program at Howard.

While an intern with the Amsterdam News, I was able to gain in-the-field experience reporting in New York on local issues and events in Harlem and beyond. One of my pieces looked at Black street vendors in New York and the unique hurdles they face and won an NNPA award.

At Columbia, my master’s thesis examined the disparities that Black-owned media face in obtaining advertising revenue from corporations despite pledges to increase funding after 2020.
